Dr. Shimanto Purkayastha is the principal specialist at Norwest Orthodontics, and is the only Australasian Orthodontic Board Certified Specialist Orthodontist in the Norwest area.
Knowing that the field was of great interest and the very nature of the work would continue to challenge and drive his career, Shimanto decided early in his dental training to become a Specialist Orthodontist.
Sydney raised and educated, Shimanto places great importance on continuing his training. This was recently recognised by achieving Australian Orthodontic Board Certification in recognition for his commitment to clinical excellence in Orthodontics. Achieving Board Certification is a result of Dr Purkayastha’s commitment to excellence and ongoing education.
Dr Purkayastha is also committed to sharing his knowledge and experience and as such he has taught in postgraduate specialist training programmes and lectures internationally on all aspects of orthodontic care with a special interest in aesthetics, orthopaedic treatment, and non-extraction treatment. He has been published in international orthodontic journals.
Outside his busy practice schedule, Shimanto follows F1 Motorsport and is a self-confessed cricket tragic – armchair only, unfortunately, as he doesn’t get much time to get out and play the game.
Being lucky enough to have travelled widely, Shimanto would like to see more of Australia.
