Your mouth is a very sensitive part of your body, and small changes can introduce some discomfort during orthodontic treatment. The first pain for many may come a few hours after the braces are first put in place. Unfortunately, this is due your braces being new and sometimes they can irritate the inside of the mouth and teeth. Ensure you have pain killers at hand or, if you are especially concerned, Norwest Orthodontics can suggest a stronger pain killer.
During your orthodontic treatment, your teeth will shift and realign to improve the aesthetic and functional aspects of your teeth. As you adapt to your new braces, that pain will lessen and you’ll be able to avoid rubbing those sensitive parts of the mouth against the brackets and wires of your dental brace.
When the braces are adjusted or bands changed, there can again be some discomfort as your teeth and mouth adjusts to the new position. However, rest assured, the pain is temporary.
Norwest Orthodontics try to make the orthodontic treatment of braces as painless as possible for all our patients. For more information about the different types of braces, please contact the team at Norwest Orthodontics on 9672 6113.
