YOUR Forsus (Bite Correction Springs)

Intro To Your Forsus Springs

This video will show you how your Forsus springs work together with your orthodontic appliances to carefully shift your jaw to create the perfect bite!

Forsus Springs

After your Forsus springs are fitted…

  • It may take a few days to adjust to wearing your Forsus springs. Talking may feel different at first. You may have a small amount of discomfort or irritation to the inside of your mouth. Allow yourself a week to settle into wearing these.
  • You can take over the counter analgesics such as Nurofen or Panadol to manage any discomfort.
  • The appliance is designed to accommodate a normal diet besides any foods that are hard, sticky or chewy as these can cause breakages.
  • The appliance is designed to stay away from your teeth when you open and close your mouth. If for some reason it gets between your teeth, do not bite on it. Biting on the appliance may deform or break it and cause injury to the inside of your mouth. Call our practice if a problem occurs.
  • Avoid intentionally opening your mouth extremely wide while the Forsus springs are in place. This can cause the arms of the plate to separate or deform.
  • Take special care when brushing your teeth to avoid dislodging or separating the appliance.
  • It is not uncommon to experience ulcers with Forsus springs. Saltwater rinses daily are recommended if an ulcer develops.
