Straighter Teeth with Damon Braces
At Norwest Orthodontics, we exclusively use Damon Clear and and Damon Q for all our patients who have braces. Known as the "Rolls Royce" of braces, the Damon System is gentle, helps maintain a high standard of oral hygiene, is less painful, more comfortable, allows for shorter treatment times, and requires fewer - if any - extractions. Damon Braces are also easy to clean and maintain a high standard of oral hygiene, making them an ideal option for adult braces.
The Damon System - Damon Clear
Damon Clear Braces are part of the innovative Damon System that Norwest Orthodontics provides. This method combines tieless braces with high-tech archwires that are clinically proven to move teeth fast and more comfortably with truly spectacular smile and facial results. If you want straighter teeth in a short time, you need Damon. We offer Damon Clear as part of our array of cosmetic dentistry services.
Damon Clear uses what is called a "passive" slide mechanism to maintain archwires within the bracket, allowing them to move freely. This reduces friction and binding so your teeth can move quickly and more comfortably.
Unlike the Damon System, other styles of braces use elastics or active clips that "bind" archwires in place. This creates friction and pressure that act like parking brakes and can slow down treatment.
Available at Norwest Orthodontics, Damon Clear combines the best of traditional clear braces and invisible aligners to deliver a more discreet treatment experience with results that go beyond straight teeth.
Damon Braces are designed to be subtle, comfortable, and easy to clean.
The Damon System - Damon Q
Damon Q Braces are technically termed "self-ligating" braces, and are both comfortable and aesthetically-pleasing. These orthodontic braces are designed with the following principles in mind:
Faster and More Comfortable Treatment
Traditional orthodontic braces use rubber o-shaped rings to tie the wire to the actual brace. These rings act as bungee cords to hold the wire and fixed brackets in place.
The problem with rubber rings is that they create a lot of friction, making tooth movement slower and more painful. They also absorb moisture and allow increased plaque and bacteria formation. This makes maintaining good oral hygiene more difficult.
Damon Q have a tiny built-in slide that gently holds the wire, eliminating the need for these inefficient o-shaped rubber rings. Since the bungee-like rubber o-rings are not used, Damon Q greatly reduce friction and binding. Clinically, this results in faster and more comfortable tooth movement.
Damon Q also make use of high-tech wires that use light forces to gently move teeth, resulting in more comfortable and efficient tooth movement. Although Damon Braces are not lingual braces, they are an affordable alternative compared to what these more expensive braces cost.
Without the elastic ties which attract and collect plaque, Damon Braces make dental hygiene easy during treatment. Plus, the Damon System is available in clear brackets so they are even less visible.
